I didn’t invent the concept of going the extra mile… I don’t even put it to practice 100% of the time. However, I am passionate about it and I just gave it a new title. I hope to inspire others to join the revolution…the OneMoreStepRevolution.
The concept is a simple one: in everything you do, when you think you’ve done enough…go one more step. Do a little something extra for someone or something without being asked to do so. We can do this at work, at home, with our friends & family, or even with random strangers on the street. If everyone makes an effort to do something extra…and go one more step, that mentality becomes contagious and spreads through our organizations, teams, households, and even our communities.
I thought it would be fun to create a blog all about this concept…going one more step. We can go a few different ways with this, and I’m sure I’ll make changes as I go, as this is my first blog of my career. My hope is that the OneMoreStepRevolution blog will be a resource for people to see how going one more step can truly positively impact people. I’ll share real life stories and examples of people going one more step…and I’d love to hear your stories as well. From time to time I may post my thoughts on certain topics from everything from leadership to hotels to business to sports. The goal is to create and inspire this idea of going OneMoreStep…resulting in the OneMoreStepRevolution. I find that every time I take the focus off of myself, and actively think about making magic for somebody else, life is way more fun. Going OneMoreStep helps other people, and it make us feel awesome in the process…because we know we made a difference.
My career in the hospitality industry began in 1998 at the Walt Disney World Resort…I often refer to it as the mothership because I learned so many pearls of wisdom there about leadership, communication, operating a business, and most of all how to make magic for people – Guests & Cast. I think the phrases making magic and going OneMoreStep are synonymous…and that is my true passion. So I look forward to sharing my thoughts on the topic.
Welcome Aboard the OneMoreStepRevolution…
