Two Simple Ways to Help Your Team Feel Fulfilled

What is fulfillment?  And why do you think this is important for us to understand, as leaders?

Look at the root word of fulfillment, which is to fulfill. It means “to develop the full potential of.”

Isn’t it ultimately up to us, as leaders, to develop the full potential of our people?  Of course, it is.  Fulfillment’s close cousin, its synonym-friend from birth, is contentment. Contentment literally means ease of mind.

What could possibly be more comforting than an eased mind?  Not much.

Consider your own life and work and think about what you find most fulfilling and what helps you.  Our role is to help others find fulfillment in their work.

Here are two ways to help those on your team feel fulfilled in the work they do:

  1. Mastery: Create opportunities for people to practice, perform, and perfect their special talents and unique skill sets.
  1. Exposure:  Showcase their talents and unique skill sets – be their in-house, personal marketing department, marketing their awesomeness and expertise.

There’s something magical that happens when we know our leader has gone out of their way to intentionally create platforms for us to perform and showcase our special talents.

Has a leader ever created opportunities for you to showcase just how special and talented you are?  How did it make you feel?  Probably amazing.

Fulfillment is something very few people achieve where they work, which makes it special when leaders who lead with hospitality make it their mission to help others achieve and experience.

“You never look bad making someone else look good.”
